Question #1: What products does Kentico offer?

Kentico offers two different types of content management systems (CMS):

  1. Xperience by Kentico
  2. Kontent by Kentico

Xperience by Kentico is similar to standard content management systems that offer plenty of features you can use to build and launch a dynamic website.

Kontent by Kentico, on the other hand, is a revision of the conventional CMS, primarily marketed as a headless content management system.

Question #2: What are the advantages of using it?

Kentico is one of the top content management systems (CMS) available in the market today for the following reasons:

  1. Kentico’s products are user-friendly. Web developers are not the only ones who will find them easy to use. Online marketers, online creators, editors, and UI designers and developers should be able to learn how to use the platform with ease as well.
  2. Their products can help streamline your development process. As it provides a solid, fully customizable infrastructure for your web development projects, it cuts down the overall development time significantly.
  3. Kentico’s products are great for online marketing. Designed to make it easier for brands and marketers to connect with and keep their target audiences and customers engaged, Kentico’s CMS tools come with built-in forums, newsletters, and other digital marketing capabilities.
  4. Kentico’s products are scalable. They have all the features and capabilities that you could ever need, regardless of the size of your operation.
  5. Their products are regularly updated. When you use their CMS tools, you will always have access to the latest and greatest web development tools, allowing you to always keep your website fresh and up to date.
  6. Kentico offers great customer support. When you work with the company, you get access to their 24/7 customer support, which means you will never have to worry about being left to deal with an issue on your own.
  7. They has just started to offer a free platform. While it is somewhat limited in terms of features, you can still use it to build and launch a full-on commercial website. Think of it as a way to test the tool out before committing to an expensive, but feature-rich premium version.

Question #3: What are the downsides when using it?

The primary downsides to using Kentico are as follows:

  1. The price can be too steep for small businesses and startups. The annual licensing fee for Xperience by Kentico starts at a whopping $10,500, while the annual licensing fees for Kontent by Kentico starts at $999. If you are just starting out, Kentico might be too expensive an investment. It would probably be better for you to start with a more cost-effective or free platform then scale up as your business grows.
  2. It lacks in-depth analytics. It’s not the best in the market when it comes to providing its users and developers with analytics data. There are other alternatives that provide you with significantly more useful data.
  3. It is proprietary. This may not necessarily be a disadvantage, especially if security is a big priority for you. However, if you enjoy the expert community support you get with open-source tools, then it may not be the best option for you.

Question #4: What are other examples of content management systems besides Kentico?

If you find that Kentico is too expensive or does not have the features that you are looking for, worry not because there are plenty of other CMS platforms you can use, such as:

  1. WordPress
  2. Wix
  3. Squarespace
  4. Elementor
  5. Drupal
  6. WooCommerce
  7. Joomla
